Small Brown Bike: "Fami(liar) To You" |
] |
So, we had our final Little Steve-inclusive Yo, Adrian! show last week. It was a blast, for sure. We played with a ska band from Detroit called Forty Lashes, and something from Vermont called Pretend You're Happy. I was excited to see them, but their set was sort of an awful, disorganized train wreck. Forty Lashes ruled the school, though.
We had a lot of fun playing. I didn't bleed this time around, but Eric did! There was an excellent group hug. We did a swingin' cover of "Party 'Til You Puke" by Andrew WK. I think I twisted my knee flipping around like a spaz. We probably played the hardest and most heartfelt that we've played, and it was an awesome time. I've got a few nights off in a row coming up, so perhaps I'll get to working on that and post it up sometime soon.
I broke my glasses at work a while ago. I was in the freezer for a while, and I went outside right afterward so I could warm up quickly. I was cleaning my glasses off with my shirt when they snapped where the lens meets the nose part in the middle. Not an easy place to glue/tape together.
I wound up finding a pair of horn-rimmed/old man reading glasses in a drawer, so I popped those lenses out. My lenses actually rest in their decently, with some space around the corners. I want to get some of that clear stuff used to seal fish tanks so I can goop up the corners and make the lenses stay put. Haven't had a chance to get any of that stuff yet, though.
The whole thing made me call some eye places around here to check prices. It looks like it'll be around $160 for a contact & glasses prescription. Which probably doesn't include any sort of actual contacts or glasses - just the prescription. Can't wait to see the look on the eye doctor's face when I roll up in a pair of three year old contacts or glasses held together with sealant!
Started chopping away at my hair last night/tonight. Not really sure what I'm doing with it... letting it grow in some places and not others, haha. We'll see how it turns out. Maybe it's time for some lightning bolts shaved into the side of my head.
I started talking to Quinn again last week. Yes, that Quinn. I was sort of interested in how she was doing out there in California, and only mildly convinced that I'd get a horrible response telling me to eff off. I didn't get that response, though. Instead, we've been talking a fair amount this past week or so, and it's been pretty excellent. It's nice. Really nice. Because I'm talking to and enjoying conversations with the person I became friends with, not the person who I had a botched relationship with.
I'm just over it. I guess I've been over it. I'm in a great place right now, mostly due to everything that happened between us. So, when I can be so lucky and happy and fortunate because of horrible things that happened, how can I not be over it? We both became awful people for a long time, and the smart move would have been for one of us to move out. But we were both too stubborn/stupid/lame to do that. Oh well. It's done, and now we can begin being friends again. It's choice.
Got a binder to hold the business cards I've made. Updated my resume. Bought groceries. Washed dishes. Shaved. Did laundry. Bought Patriotism for three dollars. Rode my bike. Went to work. Went to work. Cut my hair. Went to work. Went to work.
That's life these days.
Is my face familiar? Maybe you'll remember me. Is my voice familiar? This is the sound I made.

always remember the sound of the stereo.
was it really 2003 when this song became a single? the memories it brings back. mostly memories of how i felt those days emotionally. & you know what i realized? i'm not that sad little emo girl anymore. i am happy for the most part. i have a beautiful daughter. she is my world & i know i will never be alone again. i'm strong emotionally.
it feels good to know i made it past that part of my life. its good to be alive.

Yowza, it's starting to storm outside. My clothes were in the dryer at the laundro, so I biked over real quick to grab them, hoping to miss being rained upon too much. As I started to leave, I heard a huuuuuuge clap of thunder! And then a flash of lightning that, I'm not exaggerating, was so bright that I had to close my eyes. It was sort of awesome. I really liked being out in it. Most folks are typically inside during a storm, myself included. It's really something else to be outside, right under it, where everything is so much louder and brighter.
It was only a two-minute bike ride, but it was a pretty cool two minutes. It had started to rain in the short time that I was loading my laundry up inside, but I was able to evade a complete downpour.
We played a show at Trinity last night with Searching and xSPREADYOURWINGSx. It was really fun. I wound up bleeding all over the place, which is a first for us. During one of my spaz outs, my elbow came down on top of the tuning pegs on Justin's guitar. I didn't really think much of it, since nothing stopped and we kept on playing. After another song, though, we noticed that there were drops of blood surrounding me, and my elbow was smeared with red. I guess we're punk now?
At that point, I had stopped bleeding, so there wasn't anything to worry about. We played our last two songs, I flipped the fuck out during the last one (like always, because it rules), and then I cleaned up my blood.
We hung out to see the next two bands play, and then we headed over to the house for the second evening of UNITE! 2008. I caught the end of a new, local band called Jar'd Spiders, and then Raunchy Sex from Buffalo played. Holy shit. They're probably one of the top three bands I've ever seen at the house. The played dirty, surfy, garage rock revival music, and it was incredible. Everyone was dancing all around the basement and smiling and putting their arms around each other and everything. It's nights like that making the desire to keep finding new bands to play in the basement grow and grow. It was just exceptional.
Today I swept & mopped the floors, did laundry, played GTA and ate Apple Jacks. I think I'm going to eat more Apple Jacks, and later tonight we're going to see Pineapple Express.
More updates in a couple of days. We play our last official show with Little Steve in the band tomorrow night at the house! It's going to be sad, but we're not letting it bring us down. We're not going to be sad and teary-eyed - we're going to have a fucking blast and love everyone and everything, because that's what we always do and that's what life is all about.
There's no time for sadness. None of the memories you have of a friend who is leaving, for whatever reason, are muddled in sadness. So, why make the goodbye a sad one?
Come out and dance your pants off and give us high-fives and group hugs. It's going to be a good one.

yes i am a TOTAL geek. & i love it. =D
sadly since my computer is a piece of shit & old, it takes forever to load dharmawantsyou.com. i have a feeling i will be visiting the site from mom or dads laptop after they return home.
in other news, anyone think its possible for phelps to really get all 8 gold medals? & i just noticed he's really hot. fits in perfectly with my affinity for tall, dark haired, men. ;]

| LOST ARG |
[08 Aug 2008|11:40pm] |
the new LOST ARG is starting up. dharma was at comic con doing "recruitment." & someone under the name RuckusGuy claimed he was going to check out what these dharma tests were about & he was going to tape it. it was posted on youtube. it seems to just be a "motivational" message from dharma, focusing on the hope to "guide the world to a better tomorrow."
this is what it says during the weird flashes in the video:
"what would you sacrifice to stay alive?" "what makes you angry?" (picture of a carrot with three small nubs sprouting off flashes by)
later on
"why does the female black widow spider eat the male after mating?"
shortly after
"who is your constant?"
ok, so uhm.... wtf?!

The Album Leaf - Twentytwofourteen |
] |
for as long as i can recall, this song has ALWAYS calmed me down. or at least it has helped me vent my feelings in some way or another. all of this bands songs relax me. i believe is was maleaha who introduced me to them. (oh i miss mal!) & then this exact song showed up on an episode of OC i think.
i miss my 80gig ipod that had both of their albums loaded on it. i used to sleep to them. it also reminds me of when life was simple.
oh i miss those days sometimes.
i also remember alex tolmie. & he liked "the audio pool" & i thought it was amazing that he knew who they were. i miss alex so much. not because i dated/slept with him. but for who he was & his great personality & how he always made me laugh. i partially named my baby alexandria in memory of him. he was amazing. i'll always remember him & smile.
the olympic opening ceremony was pretty crazy in the beginning. the parade of nations bores me though. boo.
i'm in a very irritated mood right now. i probably will not mention this to ben when he gets home, as he will get defensive & mean. but seriously, i need to stop being so nice to ppl who just shit on me...
